Zanzibar will be the backbone of the continent's economy

Zanzibar's presidential candidate through the ACT-Wazalendo ticket, Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad, has said he intends to make Zanzibar the economic hub of Africa.

Maalim made the remarks at a campaign rally held at Alabama Michenzani Stadium in Unguja Urban District.

Maalim Seif has said he intends to make Zanzibar a port, where traders will be able to import their goods free of charge and at the time of delivery they will be charged very little tax.

He said if he did so, traders from East and Central African countries would be able to enter Zanzibar and get all the goods they wanted and the tariff would be lower.

Maalim Seif also made it clear that in his five years he will ensure Zanzibar has its own airline whose flights will fly around the world.
